    '01 transmission or electrical issue?

'01 with 61K on has just starting having problems starting after it has been running for any amount of time. I will drive home from work about 10 miles and the car has no problems. But if I go to start the car again withing 1/2 an hour or so the car turns over but it will not fire. The sport mode light will come on and start blinking indicating a transmission problem but the car won't even start. After I let it sit for 2 hours or more the car will start up fine and indicates no problems. Is this an electrical issue or a transmission issue? Car indicates one thing but I feel it may be a fuel pump or something else. Any input greatly appreciated.

It's more than likely the Crankshaft Position Sensor. Your symptoms are almost identical to mine when my car started acting up. Read my reply to this thread as well as the many others for more info into your problem.
