    Oil Filter 'upgrade'

Hey Guys, I'm not sure if this a true "upgrade" or not, but for those of us with the screw on type of oil filter, you can use the ones that are intended for a 4.3L V6 GM engine. They are larger and have more filter surface.

I recently changed my oil and the book called for the same one that my Grand Prix GTP called for.....On my Grand Prix I would always use the larger filter (4.3L V6 filter). I havn't actually tried putting it on the Catera yet, but it looks like there is plenty of room for a larger filter.

So, for the next person that changes thier oil: try to use the larger filter and report back to the group if there is enough room.

(Does the typical cadillac owner change thier own oil??)

I routinely use the larger filter. I do the same for my Ford 3.0 as well. Both use that shortie filter, and the larger 'standard' filter fits just fine on both.

Those that added external oil coolers may have problems depending on where they located their lines. Had to move my lines for the larger filter but no problem.
