| Re: Scan Gauge I had a scangauge II in my Catera. I have regular Actron scanners, and they work very well. Here's the problem with the scangauge. I bought it because every so often, my transmission malfunction light would light up and would go into "limp home" mode. Now you can either turn the car off and back on, or clear it with a regular scanner while driving, so you don't have to stop. I just wanted a permanent scanner in the car to turn the light off and reset it, instead of having to reach down and plug in a regular scanner while driving and clear the tranny code and light. But the scangauge will NOT read transmission codes, only codes that illuminate the CEL. So if you just want it for CEL codes, it works great and you can fit it right in that space under the radio, and keep it there all the time. I just wish I had known it wouldn't read transmission codes, like other hand-held scanners will, since that's what I bought it for. I recently sold both the catera and the scanner, and I couldn't be happier...lol |
