I have noticed some water (at least that is what I think it is) leaking into the cabin area on the front passenger side. It seems to be coming from behind the glove box area. Any ideas?
Thanks |

Their is a drain tube that goes from under the windshield on the passenger side to the front passenger wheel-well. In my case, and from other posts I've read on here, it gets clogged with leaves and junk. I tested this by running the hose on my windshield - I could see the compartment filling with water. It eventually fills up enough to flow in through the cabin air filter. If this is your problem, your cabin air filter is probably soaked. |

It is water, and when I look at the area around the cabin filter it is full of water. Could I just drill a hole in the basin? It doesn't look as if there is anything under it. |

The area that fills up is accessible by removing the cover to the cabin air filter. I cleaned out as many leaves from the bottom of the well as possible, then I applied the best tip I ever got on the Cadillac Catera Forum:
You tilt your wheels slightly to the left and you can see the rubber boot that covers the drain opening near the top of the right wheel opening. When I pulled the rubber boot off, I pulled the leaves out of the opening and water and debris came gushing out. That's all it takes - no additional holes necessary.

Don't drill, use a shop vac vacuum up the excess water, then use towels. You need to do it now, don't let it mildew up. Use a good carpet cleaner on it a couple of times and scrub it good. |

I pulled the plug and it gushed right out.

If you turn your wheels all the way left and then look into the right wheel well, you'll see what looks like a flat rubber plug up high on the wheel well.
I pulled it with a pair of pliers and it released the water. Seems like it is working so far.
