Re: cross drilled rotors

If you are really interested in brake performance upgrade to GTO brakes, or some other way to increase rotor and calliper/brake pad size.

Drilled/slotted rotors are mostly for looks and are proned to cracking/fracturing. If anything, I haven't heard anything too negative about dimpled rotors.

My friend has used these rotors and has had nothing but good things to say about them:

Re: cross drilled rotors

Ummm, Why is it so hard to answer one simple question if you have or had drilled rotors on any car in your life ( I have not) then you may have some input... Not really asking what else I can do for my braking performance just simply asked if this style and pattern looks to be prone to cracking or warping. There is a ton of different styles out there and I thought it was a pretty simple question. Now I know most will chime in with the whole, "How can we judge the quality" answer. Not looking for that, I have no plans on holding a total stranger liable for there opinion.

Re: cross drilled rotors

Say I would have posted my question in that thread, How many "Thread Jacker" comments would that bring?

I didn't see any comments in there about my exact style rotors so... Umm.... Here stands my question...........

Re: cross drilled rotors

You are asking what the 'chances' of a rotor warping on you? Chances are the rotor will warp - inevitably, rotors warp over time. It depends on a ton of factors. How hard are you on the brakes? What climate do you live in? What brake pads do you use? It's almost like me giving you a link to a windshield and asking the question "What are the chances this will crack on me?"

I don't think pattern really has anything to do with the performance or quality - it's for looks. The performance has almost nothing to do with that and almost everything to do wither materials and workmanship, which can't be seen on th ebay ad.

While drilled and slotted rotors are less proned to warping then traditional rotors, your stopping power is typically diminished on dry roads, and while they don't warp as quickly, they are proned to cracking, which is much more serious.

Re: cross drilled rotors

lol, I got ya, I guess the drill pattern isnt as important as I thought. The size location and just how close together the holes are is what I was thinking might make a rotor crack or warp. One pattern being different than the next might have been better or worse. I do understand that they do wear and will and can warp, just dont want to buy something that from a mile away would be seen as obviously a bad design.

Thanks for the insight.
