    Sometimes they change the design slightly, maybe the air duct is a different size, maybe the connector is different. I don't specifically know but part numbers can change from year to year.
    Usually the smaller run parts (fewer production models) cost more.

    gmpartsdirect.com has one for $297.00...thats about as cheap as you can get it. you may also want to try to clean it off with some rubbing alcohol..they can sometimes get dirty...just be sure not to apply to much pressure to the probes. The MAF is ricidiulously easy to remove, so it may be worth it to try cleaning it...if not, you'll have to shell out the $$$.

    just a question..what is the sensor in between the airbox filter and the maf sensor? is that another type of sensor for air? from 98 catera
