Re: Head Gasket Fix Products???

The only thing I know that fixes a head gasket is a new one. Sorry! Hope the head does not need to be machined.

Re: Head Gasket Fix Products???

Those products are barely worth it if you have a crippled engine that you want to get a few more dozen miles out of before you scrap the engine, and it is barely seeping....any more than that and even then it won't work. I would NEVER use it even temporarily if I intend to repair the engine.

Re: Head Gasket Fix Products???

Older GMs recommend the use of Bar Leaks. This is more of a prevention type product. I guess it some what helps with the head gasket and probably more so with the intake-head seals. Again this is a preventative measure it will not help a blow head gasket, it could actually complicate things.

Only thing that repairs a blown head gasket is a new and setting it correctly when it is done.

Driving a car with a leaking head gasket could result in damage to the main bearings, well anything that needs lubrication and that is the whole engine almost, and the rods can get bent should the cylinder fill then get compressed.

The moral of this is not to play games with a blown headgasket.

Bar Leaks = The devil

Don't ever use any of this type of stuff, you'll end up doing more damage. Take a cab until you can afford to fix it properly!
