Hey guys, I am sure everyone is aware of the tornado that blew thru Atlanta last weekend....my friend and I were on our way home when the worst part of the storm came thru and the straight line winds rushed through and blew the car around on roads standing with water, which led to the hydroplaning that ended up putting us in to the retaining wall and then into a tree.....I'm going to try and post the link to the pictures on my blog and hope that it works out, if it doesn't if anyone could help me out as to where to host them and post them up on here cause I think you guys would be SHOCKED to see how well the car held up considering how much SH*T we hit going highway speeds!! I do have one question for any of you that see this though, of all the damage to the car only one airbag deployed and that was the driver side air bag, my passenger air bag didn't deploy and neither of the front air bags deployed, which makes me wonder if something didn't malfunction?? As a result of the airbags not deploying my friend hit the steering wheel and has alot of internal injuries (2 inches of intestine removed, punctured bladder, both lungs punctured etc) Anyway, brace yourselves, its not a pretty site if your a Cat lover
I'm glad to read that you and your friend survived albeit with injuries. The front and passenger sidebags didn't deploy because the impact was on the driver's side. Were you both wearing seatbelts? Did your sidebag help you avoid serious injuries? I ask because you're the only person I know to have lived through that kind of damage. I hope your friend recovers soon.
my side air bag didnt deploy.....only his did on the drivers side and i think honestly thats what kept him alive....mine didnt deploy and i bounced all over the place....we were both buckled in.... is there no front impact bar on the cateras that should still be there if the air bags didnt deploy??? i know in another car i had that i wrecked there was a bar across the front behind the bumped that when it got broken the bags deployed....i'm not at all car savvy but i figured this car would've had one too and theres nothing there anymore...I dunno....its F!ed up though for real
No way I could repair that, its just toooooo 'EFFED up!!! depending on how things go with my insurance company, I may end up parting out, I'll have to make a list of salvageable parts. Still wondering if anyone thinks more of the bags sshould've deployed.....especially my passenger side bag, it didnt even deploy
Sorry to see/hear about your accident, but you and your friend are still here so that is the most important thing. From the pictures it looks like the grille is still good. If the insurance allows I would be interested in that part. Are you going to look for another Catera Sport?
Yeah ive been thinkin about it....contrary to any and all problems everyone has with these cars I absolutely LOVED that Catera......everything about it! I think if I got another one it would be White or Black as the 2 of those in the sport model i've seen, in my opinion, were hot cars.....If the insurance will allow it, which they are dragging their heels something serious, i will gather a list of parts that i could sell off and post it here....The grille would definitely be included!
