I've had my 1997 Catera since November of 1996. Have often thought about replacing it with a CTS, but, quite frankly, I can't get excited about the exterior styling (although the 2008 CTS interior is beautiful). I saw the Pontiac G8 at the auto show, and it looks sharp, like the Catera. Are other Catera owners considering the G8?
Did you see the CTS-V at the auto show. I was at the Chicago one yesterday. With a mesh grill and some ground effects, it looks better than the G8. No disrespect, but as a driver you'll spend more time inside the car than out and the CTS interior blows away the Australian made G8.
I know it's blasphemy, but a Satun Aura XR is not a bad looking car either, albeit in need of aftermarket custom rims and some lightly tinted windows. Just my opinion.
I like GTOs, 2 of my friends have them, and then some of their friends... I like the G8 as well, but what I would really like to put my hands on is the Ute ST version I thinks it's cool, fast and practical- I go fishing and have a kayak... Oh, yeah, and probably VERY customizable
I've been thinking about it. As much as I'd like a GTO, I prefer a sedan to a coupe. Two doors just don't work for me. But I'm not sold on the G8. I've never been a Pontiac fan. They always seemed to go overboard with the styling add-ons. Lots of plastic cladding, scoops & vents, decals, wings, and that's just the outside. The interiors were just as gaudy.
The G8 is much better than their older cars but of course they couldn't resist "improving" the Commodore. So they gave her hood scoops, Chrome in the nose, tail lights, and around the windows. I don't like chrome unless they're badges and lettering. The interior looks cheap. I hate the steering wheel.
This is what I'd buy. I found pictures of a Chevrolet Impala SS destined for Saudi Arabia and other overseas markets that I prefer over the G8. Same car, different trim. I couldn't find interior shots but hopefully it's along the lines of the exterior. I like its looks much better. No split grill, no hood scoop, and less chrome. I hate the wing in the last picture though. I'll wait and see how the G8 does in terms of reliability and buy a wingless Impala SS in 2010.
your right the impala is a lot nicer. I'd much rather have that over the G8. any ideas when it's coming over here? that'd be a car I'd serioulsy consider
with that said, I think the G8 is still a really nice car, I've never been a fan of the honeycomb grill, but that's something that can easily be replaced
