According to Popular Mechanics the 2010 Impala SS will be a version of the Holden HSV Grange which has a 3.7 inch longer wheelbase than the G8.

Edmunds has a good article on the future of the Impala SS. I hope they change that steering wheel.

Re: Do Catera owners like the Pontiac G8?

Thanks for the great photos.

The April 08 Automobile magazine tested the G8 GT vs the twice-the-price BMW 550i. The G8 got 5.8 seconds 0 to 60 vs the BMW at 5.5. The BMW also barely won the 1/4 mile at 14.1 seconds vs the G8 at 14.3 seconds. However, the G8 passing 30 to 70 was only 6.1 seconds vs the BMW at 7.2 Overall, a pretty good effort by a $32,745 V8.

I think I my have found my next cat, either the g8 or the impala SS... I guess if i had to leave my cat, it wouldn't be to bad to go for her hot younger cousin.

They always seemed to go overboard with the styling add-ons. Lots of plastic cladding, scoops & vents, decals, wings, and that's just the outside. The interiors were just as gaudy.

The G8 is much better than their older cars but of course they couldn't resist "improving" the Commodore. So they gave her hood scoops, Chrome in the nose, tail lights, and around the windows. I don't like chrome unless they're badges and lettering. The interior looks cheap. I hate the steering wheel.

This is what I'd buy. I found pictures of a Chevrolet Impala SS destined for Saudi Arabia and other overseas markets that I prefer over the G8. Same car, different trim. I couldn't find interior shots but hopefully it's along the lines of the exterior. I like its looks much better. No split grill, no hood scoop, and less chrome. I hate the wing in the last picture though. I'll wait and see how the G8 does in terms of reliability and buy a wingless Impala SS in 2010.

yes the interior does look cheap, but just as well with everyother pontiac. I have never been a fan of any model. My mom has a g6 gtp convert. It's ok, but that steering wheel is annoying. And the fact that its fwd, it handles kinda funny. I like to be able to cruise around turns without the wheel tugging in either direction.
