I assume they are as old as the car, In fact I was thinking about getting some D2S 85122+ Bulbs as those are supposed to be 5k color but as of now they are a bit much in price and probably not worht the upgrade...

When I park them against the garage, the OEM Hids look whiteish with some warm yellowish tones... and the fogs look just bright white with blue hue, and I am thinking that they may have sent me a 6K kit instead but I dont know I will have to compare to find out... also the camera might be lying too, as when you look at them in real life, they look almost the same color, with the Fogs being just slightly more blue then the headlights...
I have a 5K kit on another car and when I compare the colors the 5K looks less blue compared to these... I guess thats one of the problems with cheap kits... THeir tolerances are not qutie where they should be....

Re: HID Fog DIY/FAQ (BiXenons)

I'm wondering if new bulbs would match better. it does indeed look like you got the 6000k kit, what color is the ceramic covering the return wire on the bulb?

I think it was like dark brown, but I am not sure because it didnt look any different then any other HID bulbs that I have seen out there.
Well it could be the camera as well because when I drive sometimes i can see the reflection of the headlights in some of the store windows and they look exactly the same color but for whatever reason the camera shows the fogs as more blue...

Re: HID Fog DIY/FAQ (BiXenons)

To bring this tread from the dead, I decided on another upgrade....

I never seem to happy with the amount of light i have on my car for night driving, so now I am looking into upgrading the bulbs on it.

I have ordered a set of:
D2S 5000k CM bulbs. NEW ~3150lm (150$/Set)
D2S 4300k 85122. NEW ~3200lm (55$.set)
D2S 4300k 85122+ ~3400lm (75$/set)

The first set should have the whitest light, but not the most light,
second set should start off yellow and switch to bluer color after a few hundred hours, probably like OEMs,
third set should stay bright whtie, with a yellow tint to it, and give the most light with no color shift.

ANother option I am looking at is possibly going to a 50W HID as those run in the neighborhood of 4500lm, which will be around 50% more light... but I am affraid that this can burn my housings... and overload the electrical system.

Also looking to get an H7 HID for the high beams to use for the DRLs...

I will take as many pics as I can and compare the difference in light output, hopefully they get here soon, so I can try them all out...

Talking Re: HID Fog DIY/FAQ (BiXenons)

Today I got around to installing the bubls but I think they sent me the wrong ones, because the light is more yellow then before, and it looks as if there are no Xenons in there so I think I just got a regular set of 4300k bulbs...

The difference however is still amazing... just look at the pictures to see for yourself...

The new bulb on the left the old one on the right..

Here is a better comparison pic to show you the difference in brightness.

HIDS only

HIDs with HID FOG

FOGS only

I got my bulbs from RETROFIT SOURCE. THey shipped them super fast, the quality is OEM LIKE, and the results are clear.
I will have to talk to them and see if they sent me a 4300k instead of 5000k and if that is so then I will install the new bulbs and take more pictures.

Next upgrade might be a bixenon with nice TL projectors....

Re: HID Fog DIY/FAQ (BiXenons)

Nope the stock headlights in the car had the D2S bulbs in the low beam (HID) and H7 in the high beam. I only upgraded to a newer style OEM D2S bulbs as the original ones had too many hours on them and they had lost quite a bit of the light output... The upgrade was worth the money IMO, more light on the road, safer etc...

Re: HID Fog DIY/FAQ (BiXenons)

yes, definitely i did an s2000 retro in my last car and used philips 85122+ bulbs. the output was rediculous. i would to do a retro, after i opened up the headlights i realized how hard it is going to be to mount the new projectors.
