Another new (foolish?) owner of a 97 Catera

    Hello

I bought a 97 Catera last month despite everything I read on the internet. The check engine light was on for a couple of weeks but went away on its own so now I just have two questions. The driver heated seat doesn't work. The other thing is the center brake light. Only about 1/4 of it lights up. Is it difficult or expensive to replace these and has anyone done it on their own?
On a brighter note I love the looks and handling of this car and the fact that it is rear wheel drive.
    Thanks
    Chris

You could go to an Auto Zone and have them look up the codes (for free), if there are any current, and then the history ones which you would be concerned about because of the CEL being on and now off.

And a sponsor on this site does lights like that... talk to Logandiagnostic .

The seat? maybe take it apart and make sure the wires are connected good?
The passenger side heated seat in my 97 wasnt working, but when I pulled the seat bottom up to pull up the carpet a while ago, i noticed it wasnt a completly snug connection...fixed that problem and it was fine

as for the tail light, the same exact thing happend with mine...ended up getting another one off eBay for about 175 or so.....

As far as the 3rd brake light goes, I have to agree. I have dealt with Logan before and he does an excellent job. Its alot cheaper to send it to him and have him rebuild it than to buy another unit. :coolgleam
