Is it true that the two vehicles are identical other than the badges? I have found some lowering springs cheap for an Opel Omega and was wondering if they would fit in a Catera? If anyone could shed some light on this subject, I would greatly appreciate it.
Yep...that, some interior stuff, and the tail lights....other than that, theyre the same. If you open your hood and look down at the front where the latch you have to push to open it up with, you'll notice a metal tag that says "OPEL CATERA"
the springs for the Omega will work with the Catera
The sad thing is... some models from Opel seem to have a lot of problems, while others dont. I have a friend in Belgium who's father just happens to work at an Opel factory there (=hook ups and vital information on stuff for me :coolgleam )... they have a 2002 Astra wagon 1.7 TDI and it hasnt had any problem yet.
Im going to guess its because they probably had to change a lot on the car to make it street legal for America. Emissions (I know that for a fact, they had problems with), and then theres the obious engine mechanicals. Also, at the start of production for the US they had problems with water seeping into the airbag's and yet, this has happened on DeVilles and otherwise from Cadillac. Coincidence or odd luck? The first ones sat on the unloading docks for atleast a week getting them all fixed.
