    Cadillac Catera vs. Opel Omega

Is it true that the two vehicles are identical other than the badges? I have found some lowering springs cheap for an Opel Omega and was wondering if they would fit in a Catera? If anyone could shed some light on this subject, I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks

Yep...that, some interior stuff, and the tail lights....other than that, theyre the same. If you open your hood and look down at the front where the latch you have to push to open it up with, you'll notice a metal tag that says "OPEL CATERA"
the springs for the Omega will work with the Catera

So do the Opels have as many problems as our Cateras do?

The sad thing is... some models from Opel seem to have a lot of problems, while others dont. I have a friend in Belgium who's father just happens to work at an Opel factory there (=hook ups and vital information on stuff for me :coolgleam )... they have a 2002 Astra wagon 1.7 TDI and it hasnt had any problem yet.

Im going to guess its because they probably had to change a lot on the car to make it street legal for America. Emissions (I know that for a fact, they had problems with), and then theres the obious engine mechanicals. Also, at the start of production for the US they had problems with water seeping into the airbag's and yet, this has happened on DeVilles and otherwise from Cadillac. Coincidence or odd luck? The first ones sat on the unloading docks for atleast a week getting them all fixed.
    Who knows...:drinker

The Catera is basically a Opel Omega MV6 (there has been Omegas with turbo diesels, and such). It gained a lot of weight when GM introduced comfortable interiors...

That is true. But, it wasnt only nicer interiors, they made suspension parts heavier/beefier for a better ride, butt-loads more of sound dampening and plus that "heavy" V6 LOL.

Look up at my last post ^^^^

So from what I'm hearing, these springs that I found to lower an Omega will work fine in my Catera?

    Thanks everyone for the info.
