    misfire mayhem

it is a 98 catera and i just had the valve cover gaskets replaced and when ever i am a little heavy on the gas from a full stop i get misfires. the misfires stop when i turn off the car and restart. the codes that i recieve are P0300, P0302, and P0305. i just wonder if it is my ignition wires or something else. Oh i also about a week before i got the valve cover gaskets done i had the 246 ignition wires replaced. thanks for any help.

Those codes say you've had misfires in cylinders 2 and 5. Make sure each wire is going to the correct coil @ plug connector. You may need to replace the sparkplugs if that hasnt been done; if there was oil in there the plugs are shot.

Oh, and is the check engine light on? That could signify an emissions/engine control problem. Were there any other codes?

I have yet to change the plugs on mine, so I wouldnt know . But I can tell you that it does require platinum tipped sparkplugs. Id even reccomend going with what they probably have, which is Bosch... or AC Delco if thats the case.
