    Unhappy Coolant leak (Flood)

Ok the Catera has been a great car for the 45 days we have owned it. The wife drove it to work that day with no problems. When we went to leave later that night (the car had been sitting for maybe 2 hours) I noticed drips into the garage. When I backed it up there was a HUGE puddle of orange coolant under the car and the coolant light was on. I can not for the life of me see where it is leaking from. It seems to be from the back of the engine or the firewall. Just thought I would ask here so the mechanic doesnít just start replacing stuff till they hit on the problem. Lucky for me itís warm enough to get the Mustang out so I have something to drive while itís in the shop.

May be the lower hose came off or got destroyed.

All i can say right now, a gasket leak wouldnt do that until it was running.

Just had the same problem on my '99 catera. I had to have the hot water valve replaced~ it is at the back of the engine & it will cause a flood of red/orange coolant! It cost the warranty company about $250 which includes labor & coolant.

You are right about it being the valve. The part was only $60 and I replaced it myself (took about 45 minutes). The dealer wanted $350 to do it.
