Of course I mean on a dry road with good traction from a dead stop. Mine doesnt. Its still quick and runs great but it wont light up the tires. Didnt know if maybe something needs to be tuned or if it isnt capable of it. I just had the drivers side head and gasket replaced, new coil packs and plugs and a new MAF installed.
I have it off. I should have specified. TC is off and sport mode is on. My car just doesnt have the torque to peel out. Just wondering if my car isnt runing properly or if our cars never had the power to do it.

Mix a little rain and you will light them up gas and brake at same time then release brake and slam accelerator down in sport mode with tc off most of the time they break loose also turning left is easy to power slide in the rain
Gentlemen your catera is geared for high speed driving and not tire burning off the start... those cars that can peel off the start usually choke by the time they hit 100mph mark and my catera has been all the way up the the 130 and still going
Also your car is 3800lbs and it only has 200 hp drop that a few hundred and you will be good to go. Also it doesn't help that your first gear is so tall either....
I was about to write something witty about the differences between American and European cultures inr egards to cars, speed and performance (example: Americans like 1-4 mile brute force accelleration while Europeans prefer higher speed, cornering and handling... essentially the difference between Nascar and F1)... anyway, decided not to...
... then i came across this advert (I love good advertizing)... and it hit a nerve...
Mine doesn't no matter what I do. I have had the Traction Control off and in "Sport" mode but it still won't peel out. However, I was in another guy's Catera that did peel out. Did it ever peel out! This thing left a trail of rubber through the intersection. Same year Catera but mine has 36,000 less miles than his does! What gives?
