Front Bumper Cover

Now that the saga of my CPS has concluded, it's on to a new issue.

My dear daughter whom I summarily banned from driving my '99 Cat for life messed around while she was parking (vertical parking that is), and hit up against the curb thus knocking out the right (passenger side) fog light.

When I was finally able to get up under the car, I saw where the fog light was mounted on the front bumper. I was later to discover that it was the front bumper cover. The way the brackets positioned, in order for me to reseat that fog light, I will have to replaced the entire front bumper cover.

With all that being said, does anyone out there know where I can get a front bumper cover at a decent price. I checked with the body shop next to the dealership (as a recon) and they said it would cost for the bumper cover, painting of it, and installation about $832.40!!!!! Any help it MUCH appreciated. Thanks.

I have the same problem (not caused by an accident but the same l bracket is broken)... I am planning to build or rebuild a new bracket assembly this summer to reseat the fog light.

Epoxy resin and or a new aluminium bracket... I don't think replacing the entire bumber cover is worth the hassle for a small broken L-bracket...

Re: Front Bumper Cover

Are you making the bracket assembly yourself, or you're having someone do it for you? Either way, I would be interested in having one done.

You're right, replacing the entire bumper cover is a bit overkill for a piddly bracket. And of course, if I were to find a bumper cover, I'd have to get it painted.

Re: Front Bumper Cover

Making it myself... last I checked it was the same problem you have, the L bracket is broken... I haven't re-visited the issue since last fall, now that spring is here, I will have some time to crawl under there and see what can be done... I'll let you know what I come up with.

Re: Front Bumper Cover

There is one cheap on Ebay here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=120100480233 that you can get painted at any body shop for only $80-$100 or buy the paint and do it yourself as it's not that hard.
