I can't seem to find anyone who can get me a F/O/S coil spring for my 1.9TiD - it snapped during cold weather, and it took a while to track down some brake pads (they're off the shelf items but hardly any catalogues or websites list Cadillac so they can't determine which ones fit.
I'm fed up of hearing "we don't do American stuff like that" and trying to explain that its not an import to someone who just looks back like I'm -
Anyone know of a place other than dealer for parts, or have part numbers/info of any compatible parts used on other cars?
Yeah been there, no luck. To be fair they were helpful and interested just inexperienced with Cadillac and didn't have any specific or detailed information so were unable to sort me out.
They were able to sort out a spare remote fob though when I went last. Seems I'm not the only one to buy an ex dealer fleet car with only one fob and the badge missing from it.
Champion, thanks for those numbers (Ian Goss Services is 0208 5461992). Here's a quick update with the part numbers for BLS 1.9TiD;
Whitequay have coilsprings part no. 93190636 £88.07 inc VAT for a pair (only sold in pairs) and £10 delivery. (Lowered springs are available for same price online if you were to consider a set.)
Rear brake pads for same were obtained for £19.99 from local car accessory shop as they are a commonly used size - BrakeWorld part no. BW4142. Fitted them myself and compared with old - every detail exactly same. Also found them available online for as little as £12.50 set.
Just to update on the coil springs - I ordered a pair from local Saab dealer (had to use VIN) who said they could get them from Sweden no problem, same as 93 springs. Then few days later they called to say their computer kept cancelling the order and when they looked into why were told that Cadillac would not allow parts to be sent to a Saab dealer so had to be reordered through Cadillac dealer.
Whitequay in Reading originally quoted £88 inc vat pair and got them within the week but when they arrived price had changed to £270 "Cadillac price". Exact same parts from probably same parts bin but Cadillac price is higher - Whitequay agreed to "current Saab price" of £160 pair plus £25 to send them out to me special delivery. Cost me another £100 to have them fitted at HiQ with MOT retest.
Given hindsight I'd simply book my BLS into Saab for Hirsch sports spring upgrade - 4 new 25mm lowered springs £369 fitted & ready by lunchtime.
