Re: My 2002 Seville XM Direct Wiring Guide

I spliced into these wires so that I could use the CD Changer as an AUX input. However, I did not cut the wires, I only tapped into them.

As a result, the CD in the changer plays as well as my AUX input. Is the only way to get this to work is to actually cut these wires?

Thanks,
Todd

Re: My 2002 Seville XM Direct Wiring Guide

Hey Todd, what wires did you tap into to get it to recognize an CD-changer? Did you leave the CD changer plugged in? I bought the P.I.E GM10-AUX and they say it won't work on an '01 STS but obviously there is a way. I tried to mess around with it but ended up blowing the radio fuse.

Re: My 2002 Seville XM Direct Wiring Guide

To Clarify The wiring on the PDF it is as follows.

The kleft side is the factory 10 pin plug and the right side is the XM direct Plug.

Pin #
1->10
2->4
3->5
7->3
9->1

Then connect the XM Direct box power in pin 1 to a switched source in the car.

Re: My 2002 Seville XM Direct Wiring Guide

I've got an 02 and I see the button on my radio for satalite. Can I use the SIRIUS SIR-GM1? Crutchfield says it is for 2003 and newer only but I am hoping they are wrong.

Re: My 2002 Seville XM Direct Wiring Guide

I'm using the SIR-GM1 in my 2001 Seville with the 2002 factory Navigation head unit and it works fine. The XM1/2 button automatically showed up once everything was connected.

Re: My 2002 Seville XM Direct Wiring Guide

I ended up getting it working in my non-nav head unit. I am going to make an install how-to some time soon.

Re: My 2002 Seville XM Direct Wiring Guide

Yeah, basically every wire that is needed is in the CD Changer connector. That is, if you have a 2002-2004 Seville...

Re: My 2002 Seville XM Direct Wiring Guide

Hi, I posted in the seville area but I guesss this is a better place. I just bought a 2002 STS and it has non-navigation HU with cd, cassette, and changer. The band button gives me FM1, FM2, AM, and weather options. I would like to ad XM but only if I can do it "stock". I don't want to add any extra displays. Is this reasonably simple? Also I want to add a bluetooth phone adaptor. What sucess has anyone had with it.

Re: My 2002 Seville XM Direct Wiring Guide

there should be a button on the lower right i forget what it says right now to be honest and when you push it it will say no satellite radio. you can buy a tuner online that will be plug and play thought unlike what this guy did, it says for deville but will work for a seville also

http://cgi.ebay.com/XM-DIRECT-CADILL...QQcmdZViewItem

a tad expensive imho but it is the ONLY way other then the way listed in here previously to install XM and use it on the factory radio...

Re: My 2002 Seville XM Direct Wiring Guide

Yeamish, you sent me a PM but I cannot reply until I have a bunch of posts, so I will reply here and hopefully you will see it.

-QUOTE-
Does the station selection button on your steering wheel work with the SIR-GM1? My programming buttons do but the wheel does not. I only used Pin 9 (data) in the car to interface with the unit but I'm not sure if I need to be using 10 as well to make it work.
-END QUOTE-

The station selection button on my wheel (SEL up / down) half works right. When I push it up, it goes through the presets. When I push it down, it does nothing.

I swapped my non-nav head unit back in to test out the SIR-GM1 Sirius factory compatible receiver I had just installed. Before the SIR-GM1 was installed, I would cycle through all bands and get the same results you got (AM/FM/WX). I was never able to get the "no satellite radio" message CadillacSTS2003 and others spoke about to show up. But, once I installed the SIR-GM1 the additional SAT band automatically showed up when cycling through the available bands. The same thing happened with my nav head unit...no SAT band or mention of it until the unit was installed.

As for adding factory XM, the only option at this point was previously mentioned (XM Direct unit). The cheapest I could find that box was like $150 shipped on Ebay. Another option is to buy a factory new XM receiver from GM and install that, but from what I understand those can be hard to obtain. The used factory XM receivers are coded to the car and once that is done, they CANNOT be moved to any other car. I bought a used one on Ebay for $1 to throughly test this theory out...and I'm going to see if there is some way to "clear" the used receiver of this coding. We will see...

Personally, I think the security measures GM has taken with these XM receivers are completely out of line. I would imagine that from a theft standpoint, the factory head units are easier to remove, easier to re-program and easier to sell than the factory XM receiver. On top of it all, you still need to pay a subscription fee to XM if you did happen to get a "hot" one. And as soon as you gave XM the radio code, they would know it's stolen. Maybe there are other reasons to make these factory XM receivers "one time use" only, but I can't seem to think of one.

Re: My 2002 Seville XM Direct Wiring Guide

I'm pissed, the select button doesn't do a damn this with the SIR-GM1. I guess I will try and change the pins around a bit, I may be using the wrong data pins.
