Being that I have an 01 DTS, I had to run a Class 2 data line to pin 10 of the changer harness. |

However, ive searched for the XM GM100 on ebay and cant get anything.
I search for it online and i get this- http://store.xmfanstore.com/xmdirect.html
or http://www.autotoys.com/x/product.php?productid=6105
Is this what i need to add factory xm to my 02 dev with cd changer and nav?
On ebay, i type in xm deville and this one pops up. It looks like the two form above but theres TOO much price DIFF. Is it the same? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=370023352573
I also searched for Gm xm into ebay and this came up. Is it one of these i need instead?
I saw various of these on ebay for diff years of gm and models but they look the same. Dont know if this is what i need. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=330259116856
Thanks for the help. |

The price is what i like about them. http://store.xmfanstore.com/xmdirect.html

Do i REALLY NEED to keep the changer for the xm mod to work?
I can do w/out it.
I dont really use the changer since i use the zune to aux mod.
I would hate to pay $155 extra for the CD changer harness if i dont really need it. Quote: |

you splice into the changer at the harness for the data class wires to recognize the xm unit on the radio and the audio wires to the radio |

Only for that harness?
Cant i just do my own tapping/splicing w/out needing the plug n' play harness?
Sure it might be a bit more work but the instructions on the thread dont seem difficult and i can save myself some money.
Unless theyre totally diff and seperate products then i pay the 300 bills. |

But i do gotta say that having some sort of sat radio may increase and broaden my taste for music and maybe expose me to something that i would have never listened to otherwise.
Since xm & sirius have now combined forces and channels....what they offer has definitley increased.
Plus, it can be un upgrade that i can use as a selling point when the car leaves me for another owner.
That coupled with rbd's bluetooth, sts2003's aux input and other mods can definitely return me something.
No? |

Corsa- Is a coming attraction, for sure.
Volant- i heard CAI is a hit or miss and not worth it. True?
ive heard alot on here and other places about it. What exactly does cai do anyway?
JL9- Ive been wanting to do this upgrade. Is this the one from the lucerne? Ive been looking for that thread. if you have it can you supply the thread. |

Been reading all of these posts, including the separate install thread from Yaemish (which is very informative). Before I buy the SIR-GM1 and harness adapter and attempt to begin the install, I have a few questions that hopefully someone more knowledgeable than I will be kind enough to answer:
1) My 02 SLS stock radio has the AM/FM/WX bands. I am unable to get the "no satellite radio" message--when I push the 'PTY' button, nothing happens. Does this mean my stock radio did not come sat-ready? My owner's manual references XM, although with the discalimer "If Equipped." (Edmunds says provisions for sat radio for SLS/STS were made late in 2002 and my vehicle was produced Dec 01.)
Assuming my SLS is sat-ready:
2) I have a CD changer. To confirm, must the CD changer be permanently removed in order to install the SIR-GM1 and harness adapter?
3) I have an existing Sirius subscription. What are the logistics of transferring the subscription from my old unit (Sportster 4) to this 'new' one? Does the SIR-GM1 come with its own unit number that must be provided to Sirius in order to activate service? (I believe the subscription is specific to the unit?)
4) If install is successful, is radio capable of displaying artist, song title, information?
Any information is much appreciated. |

2- changer must stay pluged in and functional.
3-Just call sirius/xm and give them the serial number etc... of the new receiver and theyll hook you up + service charge for adding extra/new unit
4-If your stock radio already has rds...then you will b eable to see station info....etc... | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
