If you can control the SIR-GM1 from your radio, you've got the data pin(s) right. All that unit needs is 12V, GND, DATA, AUDIO LEFT, AUDIO RIGHT, and AUDIO GND.
Besides, it's not like you are missing much. The SEL button only scrolls through the presets on my car...just like it does with the AM and FM bands. All I really lost was the up/down method of going through presets (I can only go up through the presets now).
Does it function differently on other cars?

I only have one data pin connected, the other didn't do anything. Maybe the other did something but I just need to change where they are going. |

They are both connected internally, so there is no need to connect both of them. I figure that their intended use is for when you are using the pass-through cable (that little 12-pin Y-harness). That way, they don't have to splice two wires together. |

Also I had the TERK XM Direct unit and switched it out to the SIR GM1. Funny thing is both boxes are made from a different manufactor but the wiring and plug are the same.
Just as an FYI the SIR-GM1 functions and sounds better than the Terk XM unit. |

I'm bidding on a sirus gm-1 unit on ebay. If I get out bid, I'll just bid on the next one. Eventually I'll get one for what I want to pay. Sounds like the sirus is prefered by most people for programing also. |

I gues I'm a little confused because I have been reading so many different ideas about this. Just to confirm before I get into the install, the unit plugs in where the CD changer plugs in. I am assuming there are enough empty pin locations in the connector to have the sirus and the changer both pluged in. That's where all the directions have me confused. Does anyone have a diagram or directions for where all the wires go from both the sirus and the cd changer. |

I suggest solidering and taping the connections. What year and model car Seville do you have? If it's 2002 and up all of the wires you need are in that harness. |

I guess that is where I'm confused. The cd player and the siruse unit conect to the same wires in the car harness and it still recognises which one you want to play? |

If not, here's the answer: Fuse #2 in the Underhood fusebox, is marked Accessory.(at least on my 2000 SLS) your mileage may vary, but there should be one there.. It behaves the exact way the radio does. I.e. turns on off with the key etc, plus stays on until you open a door to exit etc.
If you use a fuse tap, and run a wire into the car, you now have a source for accessory switched power, so whenever the radio is on, your xm will be on as well.
Take care,

It should work with or without a changer. |
