Robert, there have been a broad range of topics covered here, what kind of illustration are you looking for?
What is the specific issue with the '91?

Got it twice!
Had the bypass installed a couple years ago after getting the dreaded "Starting Disabled" Message. Got the solution here and passed it on to my mechanic. Everything worked great until a couple days ago when it happened again! Got towed home. Took off the plastic cover under the steering column and saw where the bypass resistor was installed. But the installer had re-connected the 2-prong connectors from the starting column to the computer! So then the computer must have been seeing the bypass resistor in parallel with the resistor in the chip in the key, which would be half the normal resistance. How could it have worked?? Maybe the connectors weren't fully engaged?
Anyway, I disconnected that connector and everything worked OK. Until later that day, got "Starting Disabled" once more but not after that.
Think I'll have to get under there and make sure that resistor is a real tight connection.
No reply required; just thought you techies would enjoy the story of the bypass working for awhile, then quitting.
