My '03 EXT with factory Bose has started showing a similar problem -- about three instances of audio output failure in the past several months.
Upon vehicle start, there's the audio system display and controls available and working on the dash, but no audio out to the speakers with any of the selected modes -- FM, AM, XM, CD. I've tried cycling through by turning the audio system OFF, then ON; and with vehicle OFF, exit, lock doors, open doors, vehicle start; etc., but after complete shut down and restart there's still no audio coming out. It's like the power amp has remained off, or the OnStar audio transfer / entertainment audio mute was activited and stuck.
But the next morning, the entertainment audio speaker power out is back working. I haven't tried to time how long the vehicle has to be off before the audio output resets. Is the problem connected to the 10-minute audio system shutdown timer?
I have the same issue on a 1995 SLS, I first had a Err from a CD that was playing then no ability to turn on or off and no ability to change stations etc, after overnight sitting the audio came on but I couldn't turn it off, it wasn't on a station. Is there a reset some where for these systems????
