Help: 2005 STS Double Din Head Unit

I have a stock head unit in my 2005 STS (4.6L V8 N*), which controls driver settings, and I'm pretty sure all of the engine diagnostic information that displays in the dash. Bose system. I want to install a double DIN head unit without losing all of the diagnostic info. Basically, I want a touchscreen with iPhone hook up (hands free calling through speakers/caller display/phonebook), and the ability to play iTunes from my phone/Pandora, etc. I don't necessarily want a navigation system.

I've gotten various answers from car audio shops and online - I wanted to ask you guys if anyone else has done this upgrade successfully, and what it took to get there. I take a lot of work calls while I'm driving and want to be legit. Any help would be really appreciated!

The HU has no involvement in the engine diagnostic.
I would advise you against messing with it.
You can always add an AUX input to the HU by following my posts on the subject.

NCaddy, I was directed to this sub forum because I had the same question as the original post. You are clearly one of the most knowledeable board members here. And I hear soooo many critical opinions, but NO REAL solutions. Is there as away to put in an aftermarket HU, and not disturb the current functions stock HU does? Do I have to keep the HU "on board," may be in the glove box, and just integrate?

Please offer the definitive word on this mystery.

    Jack

    Please don't hijack threads.

.....There is no mystery, the original HU doesn't have to stay in the car. How many times do I have to explain an integration module???

NOT hijacking. I reiterated the OP question because there was no response. I Specifically asked nCaddy, NOT YOU.

I'm quite aware you didn't ask me. I'm perplexed why you seemed to just ignore my posts in your thread answering the same question you've asked here. And yes, you did hijack this thread. You're not the OP, and your question is pertaining to a totally different vehicle.

Moist CAbbage, I ignore your comments because I do not find them helpful. I do not respond to you because I find you unpleasant, ill mannered, and antagonistic.

As I've already p/m you, please leave me alone. Since I do not want your input, please don't offer it. Just that simple.

    Respectfully,
    Jack
