    Who knew??? No ignition wire.

The GM 32 connector does not have an ignition wire.
I know where to tap one if I want to go that route but was stunned to learn this.
Is ignition status on the data bus?
    Thanks,
    Taz

    RAP<>Ignition state.
We leave in an era where all information comes on the data line. All you need is a power (hot as long as RAP is ON) wire and a data wire.

Re: Who knew??? No ignition wire.

I realize you don't know me. It's one of the downfalls of the internet.
What I meant was the radio ignition wire is RAP.
I knew what I meant, just didn't get it out right.
So where does an 02 etc get the clock and presets?
Is it in RIM over data?

Re: Who knew??? No ignition wire.

    So I've learned...
RAP is hot when ignition is on.
RAP stays hot for 10 minutes after ignition is off.
Everything off RAP uses serial data to determine when to act.
    Example is the HU.
If ("ignition off" AND "Door opened") then off
"Door opened" is an edge trigger (If I remember correctly) either high to low or low to high. Meaning when the door is closed, value = low, when door is opened, value = high. It triggers on the edge from low to high and not the high to low edge.
Maybe it triggers on both.... if ("Ignition off" AND "Door state changed") then off
What happens when you keep the car running, open the door and then trun off ignition? Radio stay on? Does it go off when you close the door?
I already pulled my Bose so I can't test.
At any rate, it's time to start programming the interface and creating some custom circuits to do what I want.
