'03 DeVille Base - remove factory sub when adding new one?

My car is a '03 DeVille Base. I am loving this car (recently purchased) and have upgraded the stock H/U to a Pioneer 3300BT/DVD. The Pioneer H/U has separate RCA jacks for a subwoofer. I have a new sub (12" Sony in a sealed MDF box) and an amp all ready to install into the trunk, and I will connect the amp to the Pioneer RCA jacks. That part is pretty straightforward.

My question is what to do with the factory sub that's in the rear console? Should I physically remove the factory sub? Should I disconnect it? I realize there is some fairly complex wiring in this car, so that's why I'm asking these questions. I don't want to disrupt the factory system. But then again, I would like to somehow disable the factory sub.

Many thanks for any help with this.

    Dave in RI

Just unplug it that's what I did! I've got 2 Kicker DC10's in my 00 DTS.
