Where to start, stereo not working 2004 Deville

I am picking up my new to me 2004 Deville tomorrow. The stereo does not work. The clock does, and if you hit the tune button it says something about presets.

Here is my RPO list from the decoder.

Where do I start first, fuses? I wouldn't be opposed to putting an aftermarket stereo in, as I use a USB thumbdrive and my smart phone for a lot of my music needs, but I understand this could be quite the undertaking?

    Will do.
Would that cause no stations to show up on the display?

I am new to this as far as Cadillac goes, and I understand the HU is a central brain of sorts. Not as easy as pulling it and swapping in an aftermarket HU by any means from what I have gleaned from researching here.

Oh, in that case forget about the amp fuse, is the data wire. I would expect a "U" code in this situation (see the sticky here). The no display situation is caused by the fact that the HU cannot communicate with the DIM.
Part of the HU startup procedure is to request the VIN from the DIM and compare it with the one stored in HU. If no match will not start (say you take the HU from one car and install it on another). But if you would have communication and the VIN will not match then the HU will display "Theftlock enabled". In your situation (if I understand correctly) you have no such message but you do have clock, is the clock always 12:00?
If the clock does display the correct hour then you have communication, and that is a head scratcher...
The only thing I could recommend is use a TechII tool (dealership ~$50 charge) and see if it the HU and DIM are responsive.

I believe the clock does display 12:00.
I am picking the car up in a couple hours.

The clock DOES keep time. If I turn the ignition to on, and hit the power now the volume and station presets will come up, but then they go away and it's just the clock. I ejected a CD from the HU, still the same.
It act like it is setting away and home presets, but nothing else.

I couldn't get the ashtray open, someone had screwed it shut because it was broken.

What are the codes? Look especially for "U" codes and anything under IRC.

Is your data wires. You need to remove the HU (since is a Deville is a 1 minute job). Then you need to check your E6 and F6 wires.
Do you have a wiring diagram for the car?

Is not difficult to diagnose with the diagram at hand.
You can use one the car's data port (underneath the steering wheel to the left) to connect either E6 or F6 HU pins, apply power and see if it starts. If it does then is a problem with the wires between the DIM and the HU. If it still doesn't then is either the HU (defective) or the DIM (or DIM connector).

I don't have a manual yet, so no clue how to remove HU, and no wiring diagram.
