2000 Eldorado Needs Moar BASS and other audio questions
I have a 2000 Eldorado with the Bose system. I have read alot of threads here in this section and have no clear answer to my questions.
#1) In the sticky thread it says that there is no sub in my model. Is this true? I know there is not one in the rear deck in between the 6x9's, but placing my hand on the rear seats I feel vibrations on the drivers side and none on the passengers side. Please help me figure this out.
#2) I have found a few different options on the internet that are supposedly able to hook into the wiring harness and provide a 2 channel rca out put. Do they make one for my model? Here is a link to the one that most closely matches, I will be calling them when I have a chance to discuss it with the company and will post whatever info I receive. http://www.shipsound.com/PAC-C2A-GM2...ce_p_9590.html
#3) I need to replace one of the 6x9's in the rear, can someone please provide a link to a website that sells direct replacements. I have been unable to find one. I had found a listing for some a year ago and do not remember where, I want to say Rock Auto used to have them, but I could be mistaken.
#4) In the event that I cannot use the add-on interface described in question #2 has anyone succesfully tapped into the pos and neg wires going into the 6x9's from the amp and used a line converter or a crossover or signal proccessor to input into an after market amp? Please describe your experience.
I love the sound output from my current system, but I like to listen to my local music. And since I'm in Houston you know how we do it, WE DO IT BIG. I also like to listen to electronic music with FAT FAT BASS lines that the current system does not do justice. I have a buddy that used to work for River Oaks Car Stereo and he knows what he is doing. But we want to fully research the current system and view my options before we spend too much money. Let me put it this way, he has one AudioBahn Comp Level Sub and a Memphis amp and its the most insane bass I have ever heard from such a compact system, the box is tuned properly. We put this track (Excision - Shambhala 2008) we just discovered the other day on it and we sent his amp into self-protection mode 5 or 6 times and before that blew a 100amp fuse.
Re: 2000 Eldorado Needs Moar BASS and other audio questions
Personally, I've never been a fan of line-out converters. They just don't perform like most people think or hope that they will. I used to use them back in the late 70's before many decks had RCA outputs. They suck. If it were me, I would just replace the Bose head unit with an aftermarket one with RCA outputs. Besides, you would be much happier with an aftermarket deck because of all the cool features not found in the Bose head unit, not to mention much better specs. Just my opinion. The choice is yours, but I'd look into any option other than a line-out converter. If you can find a crossover with speaker level inputs you're going to find the problem solved, but I'm not sure of anyone who makes one.
As for your speaker you need to replace, this place is a good source for used parts but they get kind of pricey sometimes...
