2004 Deville navigation NO SOUND from voice guidance

I have a question Is there a wire difference in the harness from the steering wheel in a 02 deville/dts/dhs an a 04 deville? The reason im asking is i had the wheel swapped out of my 04 for the wood & leather one from a 02 now everything work the same DVD still plays and you can hear it GPS works except for the voice guidance i cant hear it now. The radio still fades out when the voice guidance is given the command. The voice guidance volume is set to max. Has anyone had this happen to their Navigation

Also the low fuel "CHIME" doesnt sound either. Anyone have a idea of the problem?

The chimes are generated by the radio as well as the turn-by-turn voice prompts. Does the chime sound when you open the door with the key in the ignition? Sounds like there may be a pin change between the years...doesn't the '04 have a heated steering wheel option?

if your not getting any command from voice guidance its almost 99 percent of the time a VSS issue
does your arrow point in one single direction at all times and NEVER points in another no matter where you turn?

theres another way to monitor this internally with the unit through the diagnostic functions on the screen but i need the part number from your specific nav unit to give you the correct code

Hey Jason, I haven't been able to access the diagnostic screen on my nav unit. Could you give me the correct code? I have tried 1791 and 1971 but no diagnostic screen appears. My nav is a 25734875.

according to the manual 1971 is correct for that part number
try 6497 though too

Okay. I will try 6497. Is there another button to press after putting in 1971 to get the diagnostic screen?

Yeah...doing that it just stays at the pin pad screen. I forgot to check the 6497 code...I'll try that later.

No chimes when the doors open either and no mine was not heated

The nav works fine turn by turn

Even though your steering wheel wasn't heated, the option existed, so I wonder if the wiring harness was slightly different in '04 compared to '02 when the option didn't exist.
