    1990 Eldorado sterio

I have a 90 Eldorado. The sterio after it warms up (5 min or so) loses one channel and just makes static out of one speaker. Even if i turn off that speaker it continues. I would like to upgrade to a cd player if its not a huge deal. Whats the skinny on changing system? what will fit and what headaches are involved. thanks
