97 Seville aftermarket deck installation, $160 harness needed?

Remove this ad
Hello everyone,

I am looking at installing a pioneer deck in my 97 Seville replacing the non-bose factory head unit.
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...DIN/DEH-P500UB It is a sweet unit with a USB aux in.

I got a quote from a local car audio shop that I really trust, but they had a $160 dollar wiring harness and a $60 mounting bracket on the parts list.. that is more than the deck itself! Their explanation was that this year caddy has part of the car's computer and the door chime controls inside the head unit and they need to be relocated with this wiring harness. Any truth to that?

Your gonna want to double check me on this, to make sure that I am pointing you in the right direction...

It is my understanding that you are going to need the following parts for your install.
1. Harness GMRC-03 $89.95

2. Dash Kit 99-2005 $29.99

3. Antenna Adapter 40-GM10 $7.95

Again, I am not 100% if these are the exact parts you need. What I would do is ask the shop the brand and part number to be absolutely sure.

That being said, according to the links above is plug and play and you keep your chimes.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Yeah I would agree with the last post 160 for radio installation i don't know about your dash looks like stock but if its a double din the the aftermarket radio has a cage and you can buy a plastic housing that will fit your car. Also on the wiring I know for a fact non bose you can use the poineer harness and splice and the factory harnes make sure splice the wires just incase you want to go back to stock . Chances is the shop I going to cut your factory harness to make space for your new radio. Any more questions post them
