Cd player options - 98 deville

I went on a road trip a few days ago and became annoyed with the 98 Deville's CD player because it is trunk-mounted. You have to pull over and mess around with that "magazine" system to load in new CDs; and if it is raining, then you have to either get wet or stick with the CDs you have in there.

Did GM make an in-dash CD changer (or even a single-in dash CD player), stock, that fits the 97-99 Deville body style?

Re: Cd player options - 98 deville

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but based on my research, the only ones available were from STS and SLS and Concours models and all were pre-amp decks. The stock cassette deck in the deville is amplified. So you would need the deck and the amp and a way to wire it all up to the factory speakers. And even with that you may have problems with teh car recognizing the deck...

I am hoping to install an iPod controller of some kind through the CD changer plug in the back of the existing deck. I have not begun to research that option yet though...
