Re: OnStar -> Bluetooth Conversion Completed!!!

Okay, I threw this together this morning with minimal editing. It shows how the phone and car automatically link up when you open the door, and also pay close attention to the delay in audio. AT&T users will be able to note the delay before the audio kicks in during calls to check my voicemail.

Re: OnStar -> Bluetooth Conversion Completed!!!

it seems the bluestar in a normal cts works just fine or at least better then it does in my cts-v. i would have thought we would have the same HU in both cars.

There's a bunch of "B roll" on the cutting room floor, and about 20 minutes of "WTF" time as I couldn't get the unit to settle down long enough to shoot it straight through. I ended up piecing together "the perfect experience". I live within feet of an Interstate and when traffic is heavy, my cell tower will drop calls. The BlueSTAR also dropped out of OnStar mode a couple of times.

Now here's where it gets weird. I was in the middle of leaving myself a message when it dropped out of OnStar mode. I kept speaking just to see what would happen, and sure enough, the cabin mic was still operating. I ended the call and dialed back into my voicemail and none of my message was missing or silent. So what does this mean? It means that even if my stereo drops the call, I can disconnect and reconnect the bluetooth and perhaps trigger the BlueSTAR to pick up again. I'm not sure what the answer is for this problem.

Re: OnStar -> Bluetooth Conversion Completed!!!

Did anybody install the BlueStar in a Cadillac STS '05 V8 w/o navigation? Any idea where the VICM is located in this car? amgqmp1 made a similar question some time ago without any answer. I was hoping that the successfully installation on the CTS and DTS could be repeated in a STS but now I am not sure because seems that each cadillac model has different installations... Thanks,

Re: OnStar -> Bluetooth Conversion Completed!!!

You just need to look it up in a factory service manual. Your local library may have them. On my 2000 STS it is located at the front wall of the trunk. Remove the carpet and see if there is a bay of electronics there. Three or four bolts, and the bay will come off.

Re: OnStar -> Bluetooth Conversion Completed!!!

Yes, I did. I think it took all of 30 minutes to install.

Re: OnStar -> Bluetooth Conversion Completed!!!

Congratulations! Now you have a very advanced voice recognition system in you car (thanks to our spontaneous electronic geniuses). I will try to discover the VICM in my car, but still I doubt that the installation in my car be similar to your car. These are two different animals!!! Thanks again for your reply.
