Radio not working

I have a 1971 Cadillac Coupe Deville and the stock radio does not work. It works occasionally but will not work most of the time.

Any ideas?

what do you mean "work" like does it turn on but not play anything or does it not turn on at all? do what i did in my '85. pull it out and take the radio apart and check ALL the connections and re-solder any broken connections

Check all the connections, ground is very important.

Excuse me for not clarifying. Yes, teh radio turns on and ligths up occasionally I get static or maybe a little sound but for the most part it is silence. I was thinking it is a ground. Thanks!

Alright, so I took it out of storage and I don't even get static. It lights up and everything, but silence... Also, my cigar lighters don't work as well. Could those be connected?
