AFTERNOON CADDY OWNERS,

2 PART QUESTION....
2001 DTS...BOSE SYSTEM
I just bought a Kenwood sub package from best buy (2-12's, box and Amp) and i had it installed by best buy...I still have the factory radio in the car hooked up to the subs...When i turn it up to a certain point and the bass starts to hit real real hard the subs cut off for about 7-10 seconds and then the subs come back on..I was told that when i put a aftermarket cd player in it will not cut off any more like that...Is that true?????

Also i was told at tweeter audio that when i get a new cd player i would have to get all new speakers because the bose speakers would not work with the after market cd player because of the built in amps on each speaker....I figured i would have to re-wire the speakers to the new cd player but i didnt think i would have to buy all new speakers....Do i have to buy all new speakers to match my a after market cd player???

I think installers are getting dumber and dumber.

1st, your amp is probally clipping and going into protect. 2nd, you can buy a harness that will infact make your speakers louder when you have an aftermarket cd player. O ya tell Tweeter he's an idiot cuz that Bose System is a single amp.

Just because best buy has the name "best buy" doesn't make it best place to install car audio they may be alright when it comes to computers but there idiots when it comes to working on mobile audio.If they don't have it in a book it doesn't exsist tweeter just saw that you knew nothing about what you got and decide to tell some bullshit to make a few extra $$$...

There are Best Buys and Circuit Citys with knowledgable installers. It's rare though. I will probally get a jobthere or Tweeter once I come back from II.

I'm 17 so I already have friends that are cocky and think they know it all. It's funny when I start talking to them about audio cuz they think they know it and they start lookin like this

I wouldn't even give them that much credit. The wife and I were in there looking to spend some gift cards after the new Intel Macs came out. Some poor woman made the mistake of asking an associate about the Macbooks and Macbook Pros.... not only did he not know the difference between the two, he was insistent on trying to get her to buy some HP (probably because he would get a commission on it) because "the Mac didn't suit her needs." Three of them walked out with Macs and another two left to order online once they found out they qualified for education discounts.

They are absolute idiots when it comes to just about everything they sell. I feel sorry for people who go in there and rely on the advice of those employees. The only time I ever shop in there is when I have gift cards and when one of those little pimple faced retards come up and ask me for help I usually just chuckle at them.

Ummmm I would like some verification on this. The last time I checked ALL the Bose system had individually amped speakers. And yes some of them were built into the speaker or onto the speaker would be a better reference.

The built in amps require a power lead form the head unit. That's why they don't work with aftermarket systems.

Just for the record I have a very vast knowledge of tuning subs and wiring audio including car, home and theater.

Okay that's news to me also. STS2003, my 2001 STS has a single amp? And each individual speaker is a conventional speaker? Not amp'd?

That's good news for me, I think one of the front dash speakers may be getting crackly, and I was figuring it was going to be some buck$ to replace.
