Seemed obvious to me why it was posted here. The word is that Caddy is benchmarking the M4 for the upcoming ATS-V, and many members here view that (and the promotion of the TTV6-3.6, similar to the M4's TTInline6, over the pushrod V8 by Caddy for the ATS-V) as short-sighted.

Threads of mine have been curbed. Things said and that were not needed. I didn't read the argument you were having so I don't know much. You have no choice but to lash back. In my case in real life if im backed in a corner I bite. Not just on a computer. I'm here most of the time bored at work. Don't get me wrong I love this forum. Some people just forget that we are all here for the same purpose to learn more about our car. And no need to put people down or try to act smarter than the next. Some just try and make it personal. Well you can't because it's a computer. It got as far for me when someone said cops were watching my post to another OP. They started with me through PM. So they want to call the cops on me? That's great. They can hide behind a computer all they want. I pay no attention to that anymore.

    Rather unappealing, I'd say.

Tech Ques: I really don't know the answer to this one, but given that the motor is turbocharged, is it really possible to obtain a decent exhaust sound with a turbo?

Pretty shameful, BMW. It sounds like the kids around here in their modified ricers with the loud mufflers and beer can exhaust tips.

entirely possible. most OEM's tune out turbo noise because it's 'undesirable'. The problem with doing that is, you then endup with an engine that sounds mostly like a vacuum cleaner because of said turbo.

BMW fixed that with piping engine noise into the cabin. Cadillac's guilty of it as well.

The exhaust system and tuning could also be incomplete - I know we popped the hoods on the M3 and M4 at NYIAS (much to the dismay and disapproval of the BMW reps there) and the engine bays clearly weren't finished - fittings and covers were missing on many components, and the liquid to air intercooler was just sitting there with no cover, heat shielding, or anything. I would have taken pics, but the hoods were closed too quickly and we were asked to not do it again or they'd called security.

BMW does have a bit of artificial sound generation, but that sounds almost artificially muffled - I'm curious what's going on with that car.

Yeah, it's sort of like implants. Turns your head, then you get grossed out.
