ith 93 octane fuel and some tweaking in the hands of a good tuner, this motor has great potential in the ATS-V it would seem.

EDIT: I said "LFX" in title ... should be LF3.

re: Edmunds dynos LF3 XTS and CTS Vsport

Thanks to them doing a back-to-back with a CTS-V, we can do some armchair maths. At that armchair, the LSA put down just about 500hp and 500tq - a 10% drop from stock factory ratings. So the CTSVSport is making 480hp and 430tq.

Now obviously this could be a cherry picked example from GM. Could be a tweaked press car.

But if NOT, it's putting down a good deal of power - the fact that it came so close in band and curve to the LSA is impressive.

Yeah when this thing goes in the ATS-V it's going to fly.

I'm going to try to not be jealous of early adopters of the ATS-V. Most likely I won't be trading in my ATS on one for a while, if ever.

Armchair maths yield ~430HP and ~480TQ ... You got the maths backward

"By logging data from the OBD-II port we saw something intriguing: The CTS Vsport's throttle was not fully open in the midrange. This is a strategy to mitigate boost overshoot as well as manage the LF3's torque output."- From the article.

The tunners are going to go crazy with this engine! Can't wait to see what they can do with it!!

More interesting than the article is the comment. read church123 comment! the car is only running 12psi.

The throttle body was closing on my XTS VSport also....until we tuned it out. 530+ lb-ft desired torque is fun with AWD.

it does fly and the LF4 has upgraded Connecting rods (titanium), valves (sodium filled), higher flow injectors, 18 PSI boost vs 12, new crankshaft with better counterweighting, shorter intake runners, upgraded turbos with low-inertia titanium-aluminide turbines...it's a pretty awesome engine

the thing has immediate virtually lag free power output

How is 100+ less WHP on the V Sport close to the LSA?
