    I was just wondering

After the ATS-V becomes a reality, this forum will certainly be moved to the V-Series forum section.

So as a lowly ATS owner, I was just wondering...

I thought we were already in the ATS-V forum. I believe there is a standard ATS forum, too.

    Re: I was just wondering

No, the Cadillac forums are broken up into groups. There is a group of forums for ATS, XTS, SRX, discontinued Models, etc. Within a group for a model are subforums such as General, Technical, Pictures, etc.. The ATS-V forum is CURRENTLY in the ATS forums group.

But the (other) V-model forums are all lumped into their own group of V-series models.

I assume the ATS-V forum is currently within the ATS model forums because the ATS-V is still vaporware.

When they start building them or some time before, I assume the forum owners will move this forum out of the ATS forums and into the V-Series forums, just like the CTS-V (and other V models) forums are.

It will be interesting if they don't as it would imply the ATS-V isn't really a proper V.

+1 on vaporware ... at least for now.

Will they segregate the VSport model into it's own forum? Dunno, but a proper ATS-V better be welcomed into the V forums even if it ends up with the LF3.

    Re: I was just wondering

You V8 proponents may be missing an angle for twisting GM's arm.

DTM, some of the best racing in the world, will bring a series in the US in the next two years. They recently switched to spec chassis but the bodies are highly identifiable beneath the considerable aerodynamic add on's. Of course in Europe, only BMW, Mercedes and Audi race (it is DTM, duh). The models they race are the ATS size and they are V8s. If Cadillac isn't doing everything possible to get into the US DTM series, they are crazy, and almost as crazy if they don't race their model that is street competition to the Audis, Merc, and BMWs in the DTM. Anyway, since the competition in the series races counterparts to street V8s, Cadillac would benefit by doing so as well. And since the actual engines in DTM entries are pure racing engines, the rules may even require a V8. How confusing would that be if customers watch a V8 ATS-V win the race on Sunday and find out they can only get a V6 from GM?

Don't get me wrong, personally, I would much prefer a V6 turbo in any ATS-V I buy but I'm not likely to buy any V. I probably would have bought several previously but I had given GM a life sentence more than a decade ago for attrocious products and service that was only commuted by the introduction of the Alpha and ATS. And now, big HP numbers aren't that interesting to me, like a 30 year phase I went thru.

F1 is finally dropping V8s for turbo V6s (and more power) next year and that's good. Not as good as the 1200 HP 2 liter turbos 4s of days gone by but a move in the right direction.

Still a V8 makes more sense from a ATS-V marketing standpoint vis a vis DTM racing.

You lost me at spec chassis.

As for the future of this space, I'd expect the ATS-V to get its own trio of subforums in the V Series section. And I'd expect them to be mostly populated by people who own them, with visits from people who are considering ownership. Speculators will move on to wherever the CTS-V3 gets discussed

DTM and V8 Supercars both switched to a spec chassis for safety and cost reasons. Then the manufactures add their street car shaped body panels (and aero) and their own pure race engines. DTM is going to have a US series starting in 2015 (I think). The cars raced in it are ATS size. I think Cadillac would be crazy to not join the series because there are only 3 other cars models raced and they are the ATS's German competition (3 series, C class, an Audi that size). Or Cadillac can stay out and let their potential ATS customers watch all the competition race with no Cadillac in sight. You may not have seen a DTM race but the series will have a huge following very quickly when it's on these shores.

    Re: I was just wondering

When Sal was running the place?

Yes. It would have received it's own sub form like the CTS V1 and V2.

With VerticalScope running the place? I would be shocked to see such. This is a page in their portfolio of places to use as a billboard for their advertising clients. The only real internal change I've seen is that they've changed around the ToS to suit their needs. You can still buy 'subscriptions' for ad-free service or 'donate' to a site that has no funding problems (now) and it's purpose is specifically to display ads(irony)! Such is the nature of the beast, so I can't blame them, It makes it hard to pay attention to such things when you(literally) have 100+ other sites to run that are as large as, or multiple times larger than this one. Would this be an indication of their personal beliefs? Nope. Just plain large company not paying attention to details.

I agree, 1000%. They need an ATS fielded in DTM. It's just one of those things you *have* to do. They've been moderately successful with the Coupe for their first run, they need to followup with the ATS.

    A huge following?

    I am speechless.
    that's what she said.
