    Stereo sound configuration

I know that it's somewhat subjective, but has anyone determined what is the best audio configuration for the sound system on a Premium ATS? Any audio enthusiasts out there...with audio measuring tools? I notice that I am not happy with the sound quality when the sound is low and do get happier as it gets loud but I don't need for it to be loud all the time. Could some of the automated features be compressing the sound quality too much?

if it is XM radio that you are using as your source, it is indeed compressed. Does the quality change if you are listening to HD radio or a CD?

I agree the sound quality of XM/Sirius is bad. To my ears it sounds muffled. Mushy bass and flat highs. I am not renewing my XM for this reason.

    Re: Stereo sound configuration

I had an IASCA judge sit in my car and "tune" my stock head unit. Most of the sliders are 3/4 to max. The listening setting is whatever is in the front middle. All of the imaging bells and whistles are turned off. This should make front seat people fairly happy as my tuner said it was "decent" which actually surprised me from a bloze system. That said, we both knew this was only temporary. I already have replacements in-hand. Just waiting on cash flow, schedule availability and nicer weather before the install.

I have Scanspeak tweeters for the a-pillar and Dynaudio Estotar2 for the front doors, center channel and 12" sub. Audison Bit 1 for the processing and two Audison amps (one 5 channel, one 2-channel). Should be done before next Spring and finals in Daytona Beach.

Thanks for the info db_outlaw! Please post updates of your upgrade as they become available (and pictures). Maybe I'll come up from Ft. Lauderdale to hear your end result in Daytona.

Yes, Ragtop 99, it is and it does. Have not placed a CD but I'm sure that it'll be better. Now I'm curious to listen through my Pandora paid account to see if it is better than XM.

I found my best sound came from bluetooth from my Iphone. I also have a card in the center console. I'm happy with the stock sound. XM I only listen to talk radio, news and sports. Music is just not up to snuff unless I'm listening to Willie Nelsons country station (56). It's vintage country music that wasn't recorded the best originally. I have my tones set at 3 quarters with driver mode.
