    Climate Controls are terrible

Anyone dissatisfied with the climate controls?

    Here's my scenario.

    Turn off auto.
    Turn off A/C.
    Set to bi-level.
    Set temp to 75.

    Air from vents if hot....hot....hot.
Turn temp down to 74. Air from vents is cold....cold....cold.

Can't seem to find a happy medium.
Cant use touch screen to change settings with gloves on.

Had an 09 CTS and controls on that car were excellent. Expected the same quality on the ATS.
Combine this with the CUE's inadequacies, t's bad enough to dissuade me from purchasing another ATS.

    Re: Climate Controls are terrible

if the temp u set is colder than the outside temperature, itll just let cold air in (even with AC off), and vice-versa. but idk y ur having an issue with gloves. i always drive with driving gloves and everything works just fnie with them.

It should not be letting COLD air in from a 1 degree temp change. And I'm sure if he's setting the heater to 74, it's not warmer than that outside.

Is the car still under warranty?

Does it work fine on Auto? I just leave mine on auto so I don't know if I would experienc the same?

If it works on auto it’s like going to the doctor and saying it hurts when I do this...and Doc says well don't do that.

Driving gloves are fine in California. Here in Denver it was well below zero last night. Regular gloves are a necessity at least until the car warms up. Until then you can't change anything without removing the gloves.

It's actually worse. On AUTO if it's warm enough outside (above 40) the AC is also on so the hot/cold differential is worse.

Did you turn off the auto defrost feature?
I hated it at first, but now like it. I get heat in the vents & floor, but cool air up by my face.
The ATS is the only car I drive without gloves. Heated steering gets warm so fast, I haven't needed gloves so far (the weather has been 30* or above).

If your system is going extreme, you probably need a fix.

screw you and your heated steering wheel . Lol I have the same issues. It's painfully slow going from 85-65. It should go faster if you hold your finger down on it . I don't want auto defog on because that runs the ac and makes the car slower .

    From the manual:
    "Auto Defog: The climate control
system may have a sensor to
    automatically detect high humidity
    inside the vehicle. When high
    humidity is detected, the climate
    control system may adjust to
outside air supply and turn on the
air conditioner. If the climate control
    system does not detect possible
window fogging, it returns to normal
    operation"
    1. Window fogging is not a problem.
    2. Cycling the AC just exaggerates the hot/cold
    3. It was -10 last night. Gloves were mandatory until wheel (heated) and cabin came up to an acceptable temp.

    Re: Climate Controls are terrible

I'm very unhappy with everything in the center stack of my ATS.
The HVAC system has a mind of its own. I have similar issues to the OP, but not to the same extreme.
I would rather have a red/blue knob like older cars to manually set the temperature of the air coming out.
The radio (non-CUE) is not user-friendly. CUE isn't much better.
The touch sensitive buttons are annoying and don't work right half the time.

I wear goves that have conductive fingertips. Touch controls work the same as with bare hands.

    Hello render1,

I apologize that you are dissatisfied with the way that your HVAC system is working. Have you brought your concern up to your dealership’s service department? If not, I would be more than happy to assist you in setting up an appointment to look into this further. Please feel free to private message me if you would like my assistance.

Sorry but I don't feel like wasting any more time at the dealer just to have them tell me there is nothing wrong with it.

Have you tried adjusting temperature when it's really cold out with gloves on? Doesn't work. . Ditto with the radio
Bring back the buttons and toggles

The A/C in my ATS works so well in Auto. Just leave it in Auto and adjust the temp when necessary. Even the defrost is automatic and it works good.
