    Small ATS additions

I just installed a magnaflow exhaust to my 2013 2.0 L. When I installed the magnaflow exhaust catback system I immediately had fuel mileage differences. Went from City Avg 19.9 to 16.5 and Highway 29.5 to 31. The city concerns me. I have ordered the Pfadt racing CAI and plan to install it next week to see if it helps and I will request a tune from Pfadt but I was wondering if anyone understands why my city average mileage would have gone down so far just by adding the magnaflow exhaust system alone.

Less restrictive exhaust = more MPG or more power, depending on how you drive. More likely than not, you're just giving it more throttle more often so you can hear the sound.

I also seems to have less power between 1000 - 2000 RPM and that is where the car runs most of the time since it is an automatic.

In my experience on newer cars a tune is the first thing you should do, hopefully Diablo will have theirs out soon.

I doubt the cat back is not the main source of your mpg change. I agree with moistcabbage that your city driving behavior probably changed. A little extra throttle to hear your mufflers or a change of a few mph in your average speed in city traffic can have a big impact on mpg. Normally mufflers on turbo cars are pretty free flowing form the factory since the turbo reduces exhaust noise. So unless one of your mufflers was damaged internally, it's hard to believe the 5% highway increase was all due to the exhaust swap. Even on the corvette (no turbo), the optional exhaust that had a muffler bypass valve only added 6 HP on a 430 HP car. Despite what I just wrote, I'm not saying the gain isn't there. I saw a picture that indicated that the stock Y-Pipe may not be that well designed. Did it include a new Y-pipe? How did it look compared to stock?

If that exhaust can generate a 5% mpg improvement, we should start seeing dynos of it adding 10HP or more.
