    Accidental Trunk Opening Fix Available

FYI GM put out a fix for accidentally hitting the trunk release button on the key fob.

Owners of some 2014 Impala models and 2013 ATS models (applies to ATS models built prior to April 8, 2013 only) may experience the trunk opening without having requested the trunk to open.
The unwanted trunk opening may be due to the trunk release button on the Remote Keyless Entry transmitter (key fob) requiring a quick button press (only 0.2 seconds is required) to open the trunk.

As a result, the trunk may be opening when the key fob button is inadvertently pressed while in a pocket or purse.
If this condition is present and the owner would like to increase the amount of time required when pressing the key fob trunk elease button, contact the Techline Customer Support Center (TCSC: 1-800-828-6860, English, or 1-800-503-3222, French) for a VCI number to install a new BCM calibration.

The new calibration will extend the required minimum time for a trunk release button press on the key fob to one second.
TIP: Once programmed, inform the customer about the new operation of the key fob.
It will be necessary to press and hold the trunk release button for one second before the trunk will open.

I'm not entirely convinced I am pressing anything. It hasn't happened in a while, but I'm fairly certain it has opened while my keys were on the counter 10 feet away.

This is the first car I've ever seen that responded to an instant request for trunk release like that, but oddly, I've never managed to hit it by accident...yet

Good to know. Happens to me when my keys are in my pocket. Since I have a cover for the fob, when another key presses up against it, the cover presses the trunk button. Only happens when Im getting in or out of the car. So I take it, that's probably it.

    Thanks!

Cars with the automatic access should have the option in CUE to disable the trunk button on the fob. I've never used it because its much easier to just touch the sensor on the trunk lid than to drag out the fob. Apparently the main purpose of the fob button on such cars is to be activated accidentally.

Thank you! This happened many times when I first purchased my ATS (November 2012).

I have since been "Extremely" careful with the fob in my pocket.

When I came out to my car after work today, the trunk was open. Third time that's happened, so I guess I'll take this info to the dealer at the next service.

What is the Fuel Filler door fix? (Why does it need fixing?)
