I'm looking at leasing a '14 ATS 2.0T manual. I keep seeing the thread(s) on the '13 stalling issue, but not much on the '14... yet. It seems, anecdotally, that the other issues are being mentioned much less in relation to second model year vehicles, as you'd expect (especially expected with it being the first year of the first car produced on a brand new platform). Can anyone comment on whether their '14 has had stalling issues issues?

This may be of interest to the '13 owners as well, since it will be fairly suspicious if this issues seems to have magically gone away.

I'm guessing the answer is no, since there would be no reason for GM not to issue a TSB and flash everyone's ECU when their car next comes in for service, but I'm very interested in leasing one of these so thought it was worth checking out.

I think you're right that there isn't a fix yet for the small percentage of cars with this problem or the current victims would be getting taken care of. But I don't believe its just a programming glitch because it's only happening to a small percent of the cars with identical programming. That's not to say programming might not go a long way to masking the root cause but I think it has to be that some sensor or mechanical parts are NOT operating as designed. I don't trust a car maker as far as I can throw them to be honest about a situation or to take action even when they know exactly what is wrong and could fix it IF they believe they might still be able to find a cheaper solution (e.g. a programming change to counteract the effects of some other failure).

So I am very interested in whether this problem is happening in 2014s because if it isn't there's a good chance they figured out what was wrong and fixed it and are now trying to figure out a way to avoid replacing substandard components in previous cars with a software band-aid.

For example (I'm not suggesting that this is what's wrong) ATS owners have been told by independent mechanics that a "slow" O2 sensor might be causing their problem (don't recall if that was for rough idle or stalling). What if GM confirmed that and switched to better O2 sensors in subsequent production? Should they then replace all the O2 sensors already in the field at great expense and draw attention about the problem to all owners and observers? Or can they maybe tweak the software to mask the symptoms of those bad O2 sensors even if that caused other mostly unnoticed side effects like worse mileage, lost power or reduced engine life?

Mine has this slow o2 sensor causes car to rough idle at times and might stall.the very SAD part is I took it back to service a week ago and GET this. Could not fix it.THIS IS PISSED OFF PART I did suggest to the service mgr about the slow O2 sensor and he told me with a straight face NO CODE NO CAN FIX. Now in the old days of customer service. The service mgr would have listened and test each O2 sensor to see if what I was suggesting was TRUE. BUT NOPE just shoved me out the door. So I will keep presuming GM in court I have document everything. This sickens me to know end
