Something that Cadillac should consider - software updates

Cadillac is not alone in making navigation updates expensive and rare. I like the CUE but know that the updates I get on my phone will always be more current and correct. Seems like Cadillac could start to change their behavior just as they have done by even making the ATS.
And perhaps there are underlying hardware changes to the CUE in 2014, but it seems to me that when hardware isn't an issue folks should be able to get updated software on a regular and routine basis. Maybe 2013 owners like me will get the CUE upgrades.
But for younger consumers who are familiar with tech - they would be impressed by making software easily upgraded. And that is the market Cadillac needs to command. Again, the ATS is a damn fine start in and of itself.

Re: Something that Cadillac should consider - software updates

I called and spent about 20 minutes on the phone with the Cadillac Customer Infotainment support yesterday to try to get the latest software version number for CUE and NAV so I could go out to my car and see if I had them. The guy I spoke to did not know how to find that information. He said for my 2013 ATS, 3/31/2013 was the last update. I asked for the number, but he said he would have to look it up on the internet. He put me on hold several times and still came back with nothing useful. At one point in time he said my software update EXPIRES in 3/31/2015! I asked if that was for NAV and he said no, it was for CUE. I certainly don't think CUE expires. In my opinion, my NAV database software is already expired and needs a major updating. I can only hope that CUE updates keep coming on a regular basis as the product matures and they don't cut off updates based on model years.

    Hello Maxplot,

I apologize for the experience you had with our Infotainment Support team. Could you private message me your VIN so I could do some additional research for you about this question? Thank you very much for your time. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
