ATS Frameless mirror conversion for 2013s?

Has anybody attempted to put a frameless mirror from a 2014 into a 2013? I happen to love them, but not so much to pass up on the 2013 MY end lease deals. Does the 2014 frameless mirror have onstar in it? Is it auto dimming?

frameless fits just fine, did this to mine, all it took was a torx multitool......funny story about this though, when i got my car i was showing my wife how the 'art & science' design language pays homage to the cadillac emblem of the 40's and 50's with the crease line that starts at the front bumper flows through the interior of the car and ends at the rear bumper and along the way you'll spot little V's sprinkled throughout the car in switches and trim pieces. well i upgraded the mirror, and next time shes in the car i proudly show her what i did, and her response......."I hate it"......"why" i ask......"you lost a V".......lol

So what will happen to Onstar, if you replace the mirror?

The 2014 ATS frameless mirror doesn't have on star buttons on it. Since these buttons are overhead beside the lights and sunroof controls (if you have one), it would be totally redundant to have 2 sets of buttons. It does dim as well.

I love the frameless mirror and checked out the new ATS on the dealer lot. I took some pictures also and can upload. The style is very sleek and futuristic in style; I love it! However I am not a fan of that gigantically thick steering wheel. It's way too big, at least for me anyway. I think it would have been better to leave as it is like in the 2013 and add those finger notch things to keep a better grip of the steering wheel. Just my thoughts.

Thanks SxyDivva! I like the look of it...but we're gonna have to figure out the PN for the onstar button assy and see about retrofitting that now heh...I can never be happy!

It should be plug and play. No impact to the onstar controls in the overhead console.

That's what I thought when I first read about the change. There is no way we would want a fatter wheel. But the size didn't look different in some pictures. I hope anyone who decides to pass on the car because of it realize they can probably buy a 2013 wheel for less than $300.

My 2013 mirror has no onstar buttons in it. They are located in the overhead console. I have a standard and performance ATS. Both don't have onstar in the mirror
