    Rear folding seats

The trim I selected does not have rear folding seats, so I have two questions:

What trim combinations DO have rear folding seats? (or which trims delete rear-folding seats)
Can I have rear-folding seats installed instead?

    Re: Rear folding seats

The 2013 brochure says Luxury or Premium have folding seats and the 2014 build guide agrees with that as well.

Performance and standard trim have it deleted likely either because
    A) it's a price concern for standard
    B) it adds a minor amount of structural rigidity in the performance trim.

In any event, it's not all that uncommon, the 3 series last time I checked made it a $300-500 option in some of their trims.

I'll never own another sedan without the feature however. It was a PITA even on the midsized CTS.

The answer is yes. There's nothing preventing the install. I wonder if the bolt-holes are already drilled infact.

The problem will come from acquiring the parts and costs. Unless you find a wrecked ATS, I think you'll see it's just not financially a sound decision.

On the E90 3 series BWM it was an option, now on the F30 series it is standard. On the E90 it was NOT possible to add fold down seats after the fact; the body frame was actually different if the seats did not come from the factory as fold down.

The pass through is already there, at least on the Performance trim.

    Re: Rear folding seats

    I've posted this before:

    For the ATS (2.0T models):

Standard has a fixed rear seat no pass through
Performance has a fixed rear seat with a trunk pass through access door
Luxury has a split folding rear seat

Waste of engineering (designing three different seating configurations) to satisfy the marketing department.

Good job for them, something like this should be standard, period. I say, the CTS-V I previously had for example, the option was deleted because they made the gas tank marginally larger to make sure the fuel pump didn't starve I suppose. The mounting locations would have possibly penetrated the tank. That was the theory anyway.

In the ATS, so far, I haven't noticed major frame or structural differences between the performance and premium trim. Although I will admit I haven't looked at the two in detail.
