This is interesting, because i specifically tried double taps, and all it would do is toggle TC on/off until i engaged sport mode, then it was easy and just worked consistently

So basically what you are saying is that if I have 3.6 AWD auto performance and not MRC it will NOT engage into competition mode, correct ??? No matter how I press the buttons. Only stability off and traction off is best I can get to l, right ???

Let's just say that is the way it is on my 3.6 AWD and that there is no mention of "competition" mode in my owner's manual. Only TC off and/or Stabiltrak off is mentioned and only TC Off or TC On is displayed in the DIC.

    Re: Competition Mode ???

Getting back to the tech side, I tried it when in sport mode, and yes, indeed, "competition mode" was displayed, along with the traction control off icon, and the stabilitrack icon. I used it frequently in my previous CTS and CTS-V, as it added heft to the steering and let you hang the tail out more easily. On the ATS, the steering did indeed feel heftier (yay!), but I wasn't wild about needing to be in sport mode to get it. I decided to experiment, and tried switching to tour mode. Guess what? The icons stayed lit as before, minus the sport icon, and the steering feel remained firmer (hopefully, I'm not deluding myself). Too bad it's only available on the Premium RWD, but that makes it another reason to go with the MRC.

It's a lot to go through to get it set like I want it: select sport, hit traction control twice, make sure it happens, then select tour (each mode change taking two clicks, BTW). In the CTS-V, it was two clicks on TC for competition mode, and one each time for sport/tour as desired. Much easier. At least there is still the option.

It's interesting that competition mode isn't mentioned in the owner's manual. It was definitely in the CTS manual, even in '08, before the CTS-V became available. The salesman I used, who is pretty knowledgeable, didn't know about it either. We even discussed it's absence on a test drive of a Premium, trying to double tap the TC with no luck, but not in sport mode, of course. Maybe the word will get out now.

    Re: Competition Mode ???

So does the competition mode also stiffen the MRC shocks even more than Sport mode alone?

Also, has anyone gone down to 17" wheels with MRC on?
