    Re: Tampered power

it's a single turbo trade off

small turbo, fast spool, good low end to mid power
bigger turbo, more lag, will hit hard when it spools and keep going till the rev limiter

I can see the AwD being slower but guess that the sacrifice you make for good handling in bad weather ... Which was amazing in my Cts which I hope follow suit for my ats didn't have a chance to try it this year when I make my runs up to Vermont . I was getting on the highway and punch it full pedal to the floor was moving real nice up until about a little over 60 and them it felt like it die out and kick back in at about 90. I miss my cts a little bit lol

i have a 2.0 t with 300 miles and the top end power is really bad mid range is ok sometimes the car feels like something is holding it back. Really not impressed with the performance. JoeyCts

    Re: Tampered power

I have a 2.0 RWD MT. I agree that when you get up in the revs the power cuts off. You really have to shift far before the limiter. Easy enough to do with a manual. Try driving it in "manual" mode to play with the rev range. I have heard that cars learn based on your driving (e.g., shift points, throttle input, etc.). I don't know if this is indeed true, although it is plausible. If true, you can probably teach it to shift earlier in automatic mode with some patience and diligence. When you decide where you like the full throttle shift point, whenever you get on the car hard, let off on the throttle to cause the car to shift at that point. May or may not work. Additionally, if you can teach the car, it may not "learn" any new traits under circumstances like full throttle. It's a thought though, or maybe someone else here knows more than I do on the subject?

    Re: Tampered power

yeah it has a redline at 7000RPM but its not necessary, if I'm having some fun or whatever I'll never shift after 5,500 because after that it falls on its face. I dont know why they gave it a 7KRL, it doesnt need it, these aren't Honda's, we get our power when we need it, not at the very end. I think the ATS' power band is brilliant, the torque is with you all the way through till the peak HP shows up.

    Re: Tampered power

That drop-off in power after 5500rpm was very evident during my dyno runs. Both stock and tuned, the graph headed down after reaching this point. It appears that to keep boosting a turbo upgrade will be needed. Pfadt has several upgrades being released in a few weeks that should really help. Stay tuned.
