    Interior trim change (NOT aftermarket)

Anyone try removing the interior trim pieces yet? In order to get other features I wanted, I had to get a car with the aluminum trim -- which I don't love. I'm thinking of switching it out to one of the OEM wood trims, and I'm trying to get an idea how hard that might be.

    Thoughts or experiences?

The dealer swapped my aluminum trim for carbon fiber. I did find some broken plastic clips from where they pulled the original trim out. I didn't watch so I don't know how hard it was.

Cadillac sees it as 0.5 hours labour, if I read this right ... so presumably if you know how to start, it is not a big deal...

Thanks. I have a pretty complete trim removal tools, but I wish I had a picture of how the trim is attached. Though even this .5 hr estimate is useful.

I'm in the same boat, I had to get a trim choice that I didn't prefer either.
I believe I have the Natural Sapele, same as seen here http://media.gm.com/dld/content/dam/...ac-ATS-024.jpg
If that's the one that you may prefer to go with I'd trade ya.
Just a thought, if not I can live with it for now, until I change it at another time.

Thanks for the offer Bungee -- but since may car is leased, I thought I would keep the aluminum trim in case they make a bg deal abut swapping it when I give the car back.

That makes sense, just thought I'd toss the idea around.
I hope it works out for you.
If you do swap it, if you'd be willing to, take some pics for others who may be thinking of doing the same thing.

That was my plan. Perhaps the mods might set up an ATS sub forum for DIY maintenance and mod how-to's?

Sounds good, and also think your sub-forum suggestion would be very helpful for owners.

    Anyone remove their trim yet?

I just got wood trim in the mail today that I ordered and it may take me a while to get to the dealer to install it so I would love to do it myself. It came with instructions, and it looks like they just pop in and out but there's a tool pictured that seems like it would make everything very easy. Not sure what it is though.

    Steven,

Which trim are you taking out? Aluminum by any chance?

No, I'm removing the plain trim from the standard model and installing dark olive ash wood

Can you take a picture or 2 of the back side of your replacement trim pieces so that I can get an idea of the clips and their locations?..
    It'd be appreciated.

Well I plan on just letting my dealer do it for me unless there's someone on here that has done it so I can find out exactly how you're supposed to do it
