No never did. Didn't really care because it was a temporary car that I didn't really want.....but now that I have a car I really wanted, it's annoying me and I want everything to be perfect!

This issue seems to be more prevalent than the heater noise issue. I'm surprised there isn't a TSB on it (that we know of). I'll see if I can get the car in on Tuesday.

The dealer was able to recreate the issue exactly as I described it to them. They took the seat apart and found that underneath the leather, then foam layers there is a web of plastic and metal. This honeycombed section appears to be worn (not sure how with only 5000 miles on the car) and it what is making the popping noise when the seat moves. They don't know if this will also alleviate the slight movement of the seat cushion. The movement may be inherent to the seat design which would mean that it's working as designed, however this should address the popping sound. I'll update you again once the car is returned and I've had a chance to drive it for a few days.

This is positive if only from the standpoint that your dealer stuck with you, didn't treat you like a flake, and actually investigated to the point of disassembling your seat: good on 'em, I say.

Well, got the car back and it's not fixed. It's different, as in it still moves and pops, but under different conditions. It doesn't move as far or pop as loud, but it still does it. Now, you can make it "pop" by wiggling in the seat when parked, which you couldn't do before. Ugh. Maybe this gets written off as one of those "it just does that" things.

I've had the same issue and it was finally resolved. They ordered me new parts for my drivers seat and fixed it. BUT after a month it's wiggling again side to side and this needs to be corrected immediately.

Now that I've had the car back for a few days the condition has improved, but it's still there like I mentioned earlier. I can live with it now, but I'm afraid that since there is still some slight movement, that additional wear will set in over time and the condition will get worse over time. I'm just going to take things as they come. The car has a long warranty to cover these things, but I do need to read the warranty again to make sure this is covered over time. Does anyone know how long this type of thing is covered?

    Hello AtlantaGuy00,

I am sorry you are still experiencing movement with your seat. This is covered as long as your warranty is still in effect. If you provide me with your VIN I can answer your warranty time and mileage parameters.

    Re: Loose drivers seat

Here's an update from Virginia. I was told 2 days ago that I would be contacted within 24 hrs by a District Specialist regarding the loose seat. There has been no contact. The seat issue has gotten worse, to the point where I can feel and often HEAR dull-clicking throughout the drive. To compound matters, I just went to clean the mats, and discovered the carpet under the passenger's seat was never pieced together...it is open and exposing the actual body of the car!

I remain hopeful that I won't second-guess my decision to start a relationship with GM. However, I do have a known and dealership-acknowledged problem with this seat, and it seems there isn't an overwhelmingly concerted effort to resolve it. Am now adding an additional problem that I would have thought GM's Quality Control department would never have let pass, regarding the carpet separation.

I will update again after being contacted by the mythical District Specialist. And for those dealing with this same issue, don't allow yourselves to "settle" for this as being an acceptable annoyance. Hold GM and Cadillac, through your dealerships, to account with this. They want a level playing field with the Germans? Let's make them earn it. I personally will have no reluctance in seeking consult to have these issues resolved.

    Cherasdad ,

I'm as frustrated as you are. I looked under my seat today and really couldn't see anything obvious that would tell me what the issue would be, except that it might be the cheap padding between the coils and the seat itself. The wiring under the seat is pathetic and everything seems to be loose. Something as simple as this should be fixable and as I stated earlier the first time I had this issue the seat was "crackling" back and forth. After the fix it stopped and NO noise at all. But after a month the seat would ever so slight shift in the opposite direction when driving. It's like a little click under my @ss and sooo friggin annoying. I'm do for an oil change soon and I will readdress this issue and do believe at some point it will get rectified. Will keep you posted and if you here of anything in the meantime I welcome you to send me a message. Thanks.

    Re: Loose drivers seat

    Steve,

Thanks for the update. I called the 1-800 Cadillac Cust Srvc number and now have a District Specialist handling this. I mentioned in another post how I discovered carpet that was never pieced together under the passenger door. I decided yesterday to look at all the carpet, and discovered there are many spots that have not been secured to the car and are just "floating." I could literally full it up by just pinching and pulling different areas.

The excitement of driving this gorgeous, brand new car is basically gone. As Rongotti posted earlier, I kinda cringe when cornering or with any lateral movement, as now can hear and feel the seat shifting. The carpet issue adds to the disappointment. I will, however, pursue and get resolution on this, and will keep you and the other members here updated on what it takes to get it.
